You have stumbled on our little corner of the Internet - we have a so much time, so little to do - strike that, reverse it. Stick with us, and we'll make the future an awesome place to hang out. Learn more about Florida Creatives
This group (and event) is really part of a larger movement inside Florida Creatives, to bring together two groups that may not always see themselves as peers. We're going to act as the connector between the computer/internet/open source geeks and the artists.
The immediate plans are to run two kinds of events: one semi-annual, and another that's more monthly.
The annual event will be a lot like BarCamp, unconference format, but focused on arts instead of being so open-ended.
The monthly event will be of the "community help desk" format, where the artists and technologists come to a specific place to try and get a specific problem solved, like "how do I get the photos from my digital camera to my website?" or "I need some help deciding how to make this look better", and then everyone helps each other. It's not free tech support, there are more rules than that. For a good reference, see this description by Advantage Labs. Their Lab Hours = Community Help Desk

Dan,
Right now I am trying to secure a date and time, but I will be starting a community fund raising effort very soon, as well as some online publicity, like podcasts, blogs, twitter, and some in-person events like the community helpdesk. We already have Florida Creatives Happy Hour as a catch-all meetup event, and I don't intend to ever dilute the participation there, just to reach out deeper and wider to certain groups.
