Several years ago, the theatre community started hosting these dinners in a different venue on a regular rotating schedule. The following is taken from a post by local theatre blogger Elizabeth Maupin, calling to action for the next event:

Has it been almost a year since the last theater-community potluck? Yes, it has, and it’s well past time for us to get together one again.

So put on your high-heeled sneakers, bring something to eat and join us at 7:30 p.m. Sunday July 24 at the Abbey, the new theater space in the Sanctuary condo building at 100 S. Eola Drive, just one block south of Lake Eola.

FLCreatives "Nomads" Happy Hour at Orlando Fringe, Loch Haven Park

Florida Creatives Happy Hour

Location

Orlando Fringe, Loch Haven Park
900 E Princeton St On the Green Lawn of Fabulousness
Orlando, FL 32803
Community or Meetup:
May 24 2011 6:00p - 9:00p

NOTE: this event is on a TUESDAY. We are moving away from Mondays.

This month marks the 20th anniversary of the Orlando Fringe Festival. Their tagline is "12 days of theatre, art, music, dance and madness". Trust me when I say that this is the premier cultural event in Orlando. The beers are available for a donation to the non-profit festival, and there are lots of food vendors set up in the park. After you get some nosh and socialize, grab a Fringe button and a ticket to a show and go check out some original plays, shows that have appeared off-Broadway, or some of the more unconventional performances. There is something for everyone at this festival.

Florida Creatives has been using the Infamous Fringe Beer Tent as a backdrop for our meetups since the beginning. Last year we even had a Pecha Kucha style slideshow event. Next month, June will be the last Nomads event, then we will try to decide on a regular spot.

Well over a year ago, I set out on a mission to make the Florida Creatives website a more usable and self-discoverable website. I think it started when someone looking at the site asked "Are you guys on Twitter?", and when I thought about how to point that out to him, I found it just was not obvious. This was the original whiteboard sketch I came up with:
