You have stumbled on our little corner of the Internet - we have a so much time, so little to do - strike that, reverse it. Stick with us, and we'll make the future an awesome place to hang out. Learn more about Florida Creatives
The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival is one of the most anticipated and creatively freewheeling events we have in Orlando, and our May happy hour has always taken place under their sacred Beer Tent. Your beer money all goes to support this non-profit festival and make sure independent theatre has a place to grow and thrive every year.
Usually we hang out under the beer tent for a little while and take advantage of the food trucks parked on the green lawn (bring cash), and follow that up with a show or two at the festival.
Some shows I am suggesting that have some appeal to Florida Creatives:
There are tons of great shows, and probably several you would like to see if you check out the complete list, so please don't hesitate to make a suggestion (take a look at Page 8 of this PDF for the Monday schedule).

Join Orlando's longest-running creative meetup to celebrate our 5th year of bringing likeminded people together. You can get great benefits out of meeting new people, like stimulating your brain, having a safe (non-judgemental) place to talk shop, finding someone to help you build that next startup, or just making friends.

Social data is exploding and scientists, like Hilary, are gaining new insights into human behavior. But how can we use this data to create something meaningful? How can all of us - scientists, developers, artists, and other innovators - work together to build tools or products that make the world more productive, interesting and beautiful?

While researching a new local podcast with creative interviews I came across the following awesomeness, supposedly coded to work in a web browser:

This event is essential a road show version of the Annual Independent Inventors Conference that has been held at the USPTO offices in D.C. the last couple of years. If you think you may at sometime in the future file a registration for a trademark or file a patent you can get an overview of the process and ask questions from representatives from the USPTO.
The event also includes speakers to address the commercialization of intellectual property which is something you won't easily find in books or online.

Likemind is before work (8AM), it happens downtown, and everyone is welcome. Bring a few friends, get some coffee, and tell us what's on your mind. We've been having some healthy turnout in the past few months. If you're getting something out of this event, please invite some friends. Since Urban ReThink is open now, and the Virgin Olive Market is serving coffee and food, let's meet up in Thornton Park. Street parking is abundant, so I don't want to hear any parking complaints. Also, meeting in downtown is part of the spirit of this event.
Groups in 60+ other cities all over the world will be getting together for conversations with their community - sure, they may not have 2+ years of these events behind them, but we do. More than 3 years ago, I heard about these two marketing guys / geeks from New York who had started an event they held on Friday mornings for coffee and conversation. The first few were just the two of them, but as they invited people and the word got out, it grew until it started getting on the radar all over the world. Now Likemind happens in scores of cities on every continent, and Orlando has been on that list almost since the beginning.
