You have stumbled on our little corner of the Internet - we have a so much time, so little to do - strike that, reverse it. Stick with us, and we'll make the future an awesome place to hang out. Learn more about Florida Creatives
In Orlando we get together at Urban ReThink, drink coffee, and have a good conversation with others of like mind.
Jacksonville gets together at Starbuck's on San Marco Blvd.
Social data is exploding and scientists, like Hilary, are gaining new insights into human behavior. But how can we use this data to create something meaningful? How can all of us - scientists, developers, artists, and other innovators - work together to build tools or products that make the world more productive, interesting and beautiful?
Join 501c3 Urban ReThink for an inspirational day with a leading creative mind. May 6th, 2012 at 1:30pm at Urban ReThink, 625 E Central Blvd. There will be a special luncheon at noon before the talk for sponsors of the event. See Urban ReThink for sponsor opportunities.
Likemind is before work (8AM), it happens downtown, and everyone is welcome. Bring a few friends, get some coffee, and tell us what's on your mind. We've been having some healthy turnout in the past few months. If you're getting something out of this event, please invite some friends. Since Urban ReThink is open now, and the Virgin Olive Market is serving coffee and food, let's meet up in Thornton Park. Street parking is abundant, so I don't want to hear any parking complaints. Also, meeting in downtown is part of the spirit of this event.
Groups in 60+ other cities all over the world will be getting together for conversations with their community - sure, they may not have 2+ years of these events behind them, but we do. More than 3 years ago, I heard about these two marketing guys / geeks from New York who had started an event they held on Friday mornings for coffee and conversation. The first few were just the two of them, but as they invited people and the word got out, it grew until it started getting on the radar all over the world. Now Likemind happens in scores of cities on every continent, and Orlando has been on that list almost since the beginning.
Born from the desire to share and learn in an open environment, BarCamp Orlando is back and better than ever.
BarCamp Orlando is an annual community-building event which aims to bring people from different backgrounds together for cooperative learning. Technologies such as Ruby, PHP, Java and C will be present alongside graphic design, music, photography, and other new media. We hope to provide free t-shirts and lunch to all attendees, but can only do so with assistance from sponsors.
TEDxOrlandoSalon meets monthly on second Thursdays at Taste, a casual restaurant in the College Park neighborhood. A typical meeting draws between 15 and 50 smart, interesting, engaged people. Some will be regulars and some will be newcomers. Some choose to eat during the event, others choose not to. Two TEDTalk videos are shown, each followed by a discussion break. The event program is determined by vote, and discussions are open-ended.
TEDxOrlando is an annual one-day conference now in it's third year, to be held next in 2012. Please stay tuned for details.
