Florida Motion Picture & Television Association (FMPTA), Metro Orlando Chapter is hosting its First Annual 45-HR Short Film Project, June 24 to 26, 2011 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Two members from each production team will receive their line of dialog, character name, character job, and a prop and will “win” their genre during the 7pm 45-HR SFP kick off in the amphitheater at The Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs, 350 S. Northlake Blvd. Each team will have exactly 45 hours to write, shoot, edit and produce a three to seven minute short film. Submission drop off and no-host celebration is 4pm on Sunday at the Orlando Ale House – Altamonte Springs.

This contest is open to ANY team within the United States but the project must be completed in Florida. Honors include Best Overall Trophy to be awarded at the 2011 45-HR SFP Premier tentatively scheduled for July 10th. Projects turned in on time with all four components will be in consideration for all awards.
Registration includes entry into FMPTA’s 22nd Annual Crystal Reel Awards into the Short Film category with winners announced during the November 5th Gala. Submissions will be judged by renowned professionals from throughout the United States and will be introduced during the 45-HR SFP Premier.

Films missing the 4pm deadline but are turned in during the Sunday celebration are disqualified for the Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award but are still eligible for the Crystal Reel Awards. The cost for the 45-HR SFP is $175 for Early Bird Registration – up through May 11 and includes two event t-shirts. egistrations received through June 9th are $200. Late Registration, $225, closes June 17th. Space is Limited and only 50 teams will be accepted to participate.

Partial proceeds benefit FMPTA Metro Orlando’s Craig Soldinger Memorial Educational Scholarship (CSMES) Fund. “This event will continue to foster FMPTA’s mission to support and educate our members and public as well as promote Florida’s entertainment industries,” explained Chapter President, Thomas P. Mitchell, Sr. “We expect the submissions to display skills and talents, both emerging and established, of Florida’s entertainment industry.”

FMPTA serves the motion picture, television, audio recording and digital media industries in the State of Florida. Members include producers, directors, casting agents, cameramen, actors, stuntmen, technicians, make-up artists, set designers, equipment rental companies, recording studios and trade/craft services.
