Brevard Wiki is Live

The first draft of the Brevard wiki is up. For now, we are a one-page wiki called Brevard East Coast Creatives.

There's a list of the companies represented by our present members. New members, please go add your companies.

There's also a list of free wi-fi hotspots in Brevard. If somebody wants, they can add a list of subscription wi-fi hotspots separately.

If the page becomes too big, we'll start breaking stuff into separate pages.

Wiki Help Needed

Dear anyone:

We need a little help with the Wiki - I have all the posts moved over, but there are two tasks yet remaining.

  1. Copying the timestamps from the old wiki posts' creation dates to the new ones. Call me detail-oriented, but I'd like to see that happen.
  2. Creating an .htaccess file in the old wiki subdomain with a bunch of 'redirect permanent' lines to all the new wiki pages. This is a simple yet tedious task. If you'd like FTP access, email me via the sitewide contact form.

Florida Creatives Groups Server

The idea here is that we can reproduce all of the features of Meetup.com and Google Groups in about an hour using a couple of off-the-shelf open source tools, like Drupal with the Organic Groups module installed.

I just did a really quick setup at FloridaCreatives.com/community - nothing fancy yet, but groups are turned on, so once you register you can create any group you like and ask your friends to join.

Creative Guides on FLCreatives Wiki: Getting into Florida Film

Today a friend of mine sent me an email asking him to help him find some resources (like money) for a film project he's working on. I thought, as I often do, that the best way to chase down opportunities like making money is to get involved with the community. Therefore, I got him in touch with several film types, and pointed him to some film resources with a brief explanation of why he should get involved.

FLCreatives Member Directory: Phase 1

I've taken the first step toward creating something everyone has asked for since the first meeting:
A list of everyone and their email addresses.

One easy way to get at the emails is through the Facebook group or on the Google Groups directory, but if you aren't on either of those lists (and you should be on one of them) we now have a Wiki Page started.

Florida Creatives

A collection of documents relating to the mission, rules?, projects, traditions and history of the Florida Creatives group.

FloridaCreatives.com is the best place to get information about upcoming events and past events, as well as what's going on with our members. Ryan has been interviewing people about once a month for a podcast (iTunes link) to help raise awareness about the activities of local creatives.

Guides

A place to share how-tos, war stories, anecdotes, handbooks, manifestos and other such stuff.

Florida

As of this posting, mostly the Orlando and Tampa pages are populated with content. Some pages don't yet exist - feel free to add links and information as you see fit, and try to follow the structure laid out by other pages. Don't feel offended if your content is edited or moved - that's the point of this system.

Help documents are coming soon.
