At TEDU 2009, Erik Hersman presents the remarkable story of Ushahidi, a GoogleMap mashup that allowed Kenyans to report and track violence via cell phone texts following the 2008 elections, and has evolved to continue saving lives in other countries.
Blogger (AfriGadget, WhiteAfrican), geek and power networker Erik Hersman is a key member of the African blog revolution. As a builder of Ushahidi, he helps expand the power of everyday people to share vital news via text.

This just looks like a lot of fun. Who's down for some Battledecks? I think this has even been brought up at past FL Creatives events.
Hey All,
For anyone that knows about TED, I would like to look into forming a small committee of like minded people that would bring TED as a bi-monthly conference to Brevard County and Florida.
You can look more at it here at www.ted.com.
For anyone that doesn't know TED, I would suggest you look into it. It is a great experience and I would love to bring this kind of innovation to Brevard and Florida.
