Wiki Help Needed

Submitted by admin on Wed, 04/23/2008 - 00:44.

Dear anyone:

We need a little help with the Wiki - I have all the posts moved over, but there are two tasks yet remaining.

  1. Copying the timestamps from the old wiki posts' creation dates to the new ones. Call me detail-oriented, but I'd like to see that happen.
  2. Creating an .htaccess file in the old wiki subdomain with a bunch of 'redirect permanent' lines to all the new wiki pages. This is a simple yet tedious task. If you'd like FTP access, email me via the sitewide contact form.

Florida Creatives Groups Server

Submitted by ryanprice on Sun, 04/06/2008 - 21:15.

The idea here is that we can reproduce all of the features of Meetup.com and Google Groups in about an hour using a couple of off-the-shelf open source tools, like Drupal with the Organic Groups module installed.

I just did a really quick setup at FloridaCreatives.com/community - nothing fancy yet, but groups are turned on, so once you register you can create any group you like and ask your friends to join.

Florida Creatives Secret Handshake

Today at BarCamp I suggested we create a "secret" handshake for Florida Creatives members or people who are involved in the local community.

Here are some suggestions: hugs, peace sign, hang loose, three-fingered wave, etc.

Every month, tons of events happen in Orlando. We post lots of them on this site, and sometimes people attend. This month, our group or our members are planning some cool things:

Creative Guides on FLCreatives Wiki: Getting into Florida Film

Submitted by ryanprice on Wed, 02/13/2008 - 10:37.

Today a friend of mine sent me an email asking him to help him find some resources (like money) for a film project he's working on. I thought, as I often do, that the best way to chase down opportunities like making money is to get involved with the community. Therefore, I got him in touch with several film types, and pointed him to some film resources with a brief explanation of why he should get involved.

FLCreatives manifesto

This is what it sounds like - something to print on the webpage, posters, Moo Cards, flyers and press releases to introduce people to the spirit of the group.

Feel free to submit your own version below - please copy and paste a section (or push the button with the big "A" on it) and put your name in the heading so we know who contributed that version. If you have something to say in comment to a particular posting, please wrap in "in quotes" and include - Your Name after the comment. ...? We should just use the blog for this, huh?
