Steve Wieczorek
Bio:
Just got into programming within the last few years. Most of my career was spent in civil engineering as a designer and things dried up in 2008-09. I got exposed first to VBA when working with MS Access, then evolved into VB.net, MSSQL, and IIS. From that it was PHP, MySql and Apache. Picked up JS, Jquery, JSON, AJAX, HTML5, CSS3 as well. Currently attending school at SCC for computer programming also. Looking to learn/absorb anything and everything.

Open Positions for PHP Programmers

Today someone started a discussion on the Orlando PHP mailing list. A cacophony of open positions seem to exist in Orlando right now.

Check out the discussion list for some details:

Looking for Sr Level PHP Developers (Contract – Contract to perm – Perm)

I helped start up the Brevard chapter of Florida Creatives and have recently had the pleasure to meet Amanda Pegues. I've been very impressed as I've dealt with and spoke to tons of recruiters in the past, many of whom seemed clueless when it came to technical positions, especially those in the web development and design field.

Come and learn about Drupal!

Join us at Florida's first-ever full-day DrupalCamp in Altamonte Springs on Saturday, February 7 from 9AM to 5PM, followed by a networking event at a local restaurant.

The camp will cover a variety of topics for everyone from newbies to experienced developers. We'll also have some true "BarCamp" style sessions where anyone can present anything in 5-10 minute increments. The session schedule is a work in progress - we'd love everyone's feedback at:

If there's a particular topic you'd like to see covered, please let us know!

Orlando PHP Meets at Stardust

Jan 6, 2008

There was some lively discussion at Stardust Video & Coffee this Tuesday, where the Orlando PHP group had its monthly meeting. The table was opened up for discussion about where the group wanted to head in the future, at which several ideas surfaced and were discussed.

Orlando PHP January Meetup

Location

Stardust Video & Coffee

Orlando, FL 32803
Community or Meetup:
Jan 06 2009 7:00p - 9:00p

Since the first Thursday of the month is January 1st, we thought it best to postpone the meeting until that next Tuesday, January 6th. If you missed December, sorry but no vote for you. ;)

If we start having more than 15 people consistently turn up to these things, we'll have to look elsewhere for a venue, I think. Packing the whole lot into Stardust with all the other customers is a little difficult, and we still have no projector! Any one have any additional suggestions?

Places we're still considering:

  • Cloudspace Offices - 10244 E Colonial Dr, Suite #106, #107
  • Stardust Coffee & Film - Corrine Dr & Winter, Winter Park
  • CoLab Orlando - Orange Ave & Wall St, Downtown
  • China Glass Warehouse - Orange Ave & Colonial Dr, Downtown
