Florida Creatives Brevard

The Brevard East Coast Creatives is a mashup of all sorts of creative, design, and code types of people whose business is working with businesses to help them communicate and brand themselves on the web or in print. We welcome liberal hippies and young conservatives alike. We welcome geeky code monkeys as well as artsy graphic designers. We welcome suit-and-tie marketing experts as well as hip trendy brand identity creators. We welcome firms, employees of companies, and freelancers alike. If you are community-minded and want to share ideas, experiences, meet the people working all around you in Brevard, then come hang out. No pressure. No forced presentations. No need to talk at all. Just listen. Or monopolize the conversation. We're small and really don't care either way. Get out of the house, the apartment, or the cubicle and come learn something new, share something crazy going on with a client, or meet someone who might be able to lend a helping hand (although probably not). Note to those invited to join: When you join, by clicking the "register" link on the upper right, you'll want to be sure to check the Brevard box in the Groups section of the registration signup. By default, everyone who joins Florida Creatives is a member of the overall state-wide group, but you have to manually select the individual sub-group(s) that you are interested in joining (such as our Brevard group here). All the subgroups of Florida Creative can be viewed here or by clicking on "Local Groups" at the top of the navigation menu on the left. Invite some others: If you are the manager or owner of a company, consider inviting all your coworkers or employees. They may want to meet others around town, too.

Brevard April Meetup

Grill 192
Apr 23 2009 6:30a - 8:30a

Ryan and Mike are off meeting with Librarians or some such so I thought I'd jump in and set the April meetup for The Brevard Florida Creatives. Grill 192 worked last time. Who is coming?

Grill 192 is one block east of 1 on 192. Hey were all about numbers here.

Good time for debrief on BarCampOrlando last weekend.

What types of places in Brevard do you think would be ideal coworking spots? Wifi cafes seem like the *obvious* choice for now until we can amass enough groundswell (or outstay our welcome) to move into more plush surroundings. Any other ideas?

BarCamp Orlando #3

Wall Street Plaza
18 Wall Street Plaza Slingapour's, One-Eyed Jack's, Gibson Guitar Center
Orlando, FL 32801
Apr 18 2009 10:00a - 6:00p

BarCampOrlando is back and is going to be bigger and better than ever. The Orlando Scene has quickly proven it can put on one of the premier BarCamp events in the US, and quite possibly the world. BarCampOrlando is a 1 day 'unconference' offering all attendees the opportunity to share their knowledge by giving short talks on ANY subject. This year we will have 3 different rooms to showcase the participants and sessions of different lengths to accommodate more content then you can shake your marshmallow stick at. BarCamp by it's nature has no schedule, no keynote speaker, and no main topic of conversation - the participants decide the who, what, how, why and when - we just pick the where! Please register for the event so we can plan accordingly! P.S. BarCamp may still be looking for sponsors - any amount will be accepted. We have a "fill in the blank" sponsorship available for those who can't swing $100 or $300, as much as they might like to.

Brevard March Meetup

Mar 26 2009 6:00p - 8:30p

Woo Hoo - our 4th monthly meetup in a row is taking place the last Thursday in March at the home of yummy nachos, good beer, and free WiFi (what more does a creative person need?): Grill 192 near the Melbourne Causeway on (duh) S.R. 192.

Let's really make an effort this month to get our numbers up - let's all commit to bringing a friend or co-worker to really get the Brevard ball rolling.

I'm looking forward to hearing about some of the cool SXSW stuff that Alex attended, and I'll be happy to talk a bit about DrupalCon DC which took place last week.

As I promised at the January meetup, I have made initial contact with DigiDonkey - I'll swing by his office again this week to extend a personal invitation for him to attend the meetup.
